Should you have the opportunity to duck away for a sneaky bite, here are our tried and tested favourites...

  • The Landing - you will recognise much of the delicious menu from Bill's in Sydney...ricotta hotcakes, fresh smoothies, eggs benedict etc.
  • The Deli - great eggs and muffins and packed sandwiches for beach picnics.
  • Arthur's Bakery - be sure to try the coconut bread.

  • Sip Sip - overlooking Pink Sands beach, this buzzy institution serves incredible ginger margaritas and black bean humus, and the lobster quesadillas. This is the best food and scene at lunchtime on Harbour Island.
  • The Dunmore Club - simple bites like the crudites and hummus, the conch fritters and the salads are all good if you're spending the day on the beach.

Dinner (you will need to book):

  • The Landing - superb food and excellent wine list in an historic plantation-style building.
  • Aquapazza - for a cheerful bowl of pasta overlooking a little marina a bit out of town, this is very informal and chilled and a perfect spot to watch the sunset over the bay with a cocktail.
  • The Rock House - can be quite a noisy scene but it's worth a look if only for a drink poolside. The dinner menu feels a little heavy for Harbour Island but it is a lovely setting.
